Getting Started

Get a HUD, pair it, set up your character, and link more avatars.

What Fertility is

Fertility is a HUD for OpenSim that simulates cycles, pregnancy, birth, milk and the things around them. The HUD itself is just a remote control: your character, stats and everything that happens to you live on this website's server. That means:

  • Your character carries over between avatars and grids — it belongs to your web account, not to a single avatar.
  • Most settings are changed here on the website, on your Dashboard, not in the HUD.
  • Time keeps passing while you are offline. Your cycle and pregnancy advance even when you are not logged in.

1. Get a HUD

Pick up a Fertility HUD from a Fertility HUD kiosk (touch it and a copy is sent to you), or ask a staff member for one. Wear it as a HUD attachment.

Old HUDs from the previous server no longer work. If your HUD was handed out before the move to this website, it is still trying to talk to a server that no longer exists. Get a fresh one.

Your grid has to allow scripts to make outbound web requests, or the HUD cannot reach the server at all. It will tell you "This grid is blocking outbound HTTP." if so.

The first time anyone uses the HUD from a grid we have not seen before, that grid is added to a list for an admin to approve. Until it is approved you will see "This grid is not approved for FertilityHUD." — use Contact Us if it sits there a while.

2. Pair it with an account

When you first attach the HUD it starts pairing straight away and opens a web page in your browser with two choices:

  • Create a New Account — pick a display username and password. This is your login for this website from now on.
  • Log In with Current Account — if you already play on another avatar, log in with that account and this avatar is linked to it (see More than one avatar).

Once you finish on the website the HUD says "Paired! Your HUD is now active." If it is still showing "Pairing… Complete at website", click the HUD to make it check again.

If the page opened inside the viewer's built-in browser, copy the link into your normal browser instead. The in-world browser blocks some of what the website needs.

3. Set up your character

New accounts are sent to the Character page. Until you save something there, the HUD stays inactive and every click on it reopens that page.

Quick Setup

ChoiceAnatomyIn short
FemaleBreasts, vagina, wombHas a cycle, can get pregnant, makes milk while pregnant.
MalePenisMakes semen, can father children.
BothEverythingAll of the above.

Clicking a Quick Setup card always resets your anatomy to exactly that card, even if you had customised it before.

Customize

For anything else, use Customize and tick the parts you want: penis, vagina, womb and breasts. There may also be Community Templates — body types other players have shared. Some combinations to know about:

  • No womb — no cycle and no pregnancy, even with a vagina.
  • No breasts — no milk.
  • Nothing ticked at all — you show up as female to other players, but only anal and oral actions work on you.

After setup

Visit your Dashboard and look at the Settings tab. The important ones to decide early:

  • Race — sets your starting fertility, pregnancy length and twin chances. You can fine-tune them afterwards.
  • Allow Force Interactions and Enable RLV Restrictions — whether other players can force you, and whether that can restrict your viewer. Both are off until you turn them on: nobody can force you unless you opt in. With force off, anyone who wants to use an item on you has to ask first.
  • Orientation (Profile tab) — decides who shows up when you pick a target.
  • Finder — whether you appear on the website's map and who can see where you are. Off by default.

More than one avatar

One account can be linked to several avatars, on the same grid or different ones. They all share one character — the same body, cycle, pregnancy and stats. To link another avatar, attach a HUD on it and, when the pairing page opens, pick Log In with Current Account.

Only one of your avatars can be active at a time. When you start using the HUD on a second avatar, the HUD on the first one goes to sleep and shows "HUD sleeping — touch to switch." Touch it to make that avatar the active one again. If you used the other avatar within the last five minutes, it asks you to confirm the switch first.

Your linked avatars, and which one is active, are listed on the Dashboard. You can unlink any of them there.

Unpairing and starting over

  • Settings button → Unpair — disconnects this HUD from your account. Your character is not touched; click the HUD to pair again.
  • Deleting your account (Dashboard → Settings) is permanent. Your lifetime stats stay in the world totals, but your name, profile and character are gone and every linked HUD is unpaired.
